The 7th Annual Pennsylvania ACCORD, "Shaping Culture Change" brought together local, regional, and national speakers who offered new and fresh insight on the state of culture change in the nation and in Pennsylvania.
"The Quality of Life Structured Resident Interview and Care Planning System" was presented by Dr. Howard Degenholtz of the University of Pittsburgh. Background information on his work developing person-centered care planning tools is available at the project website of Dr. Degenholtz and his colleagues.
"Workplace Transformation" was presented by Lea Davis, Executive Director at Fort Washington Estates, and Liz Barelme, Executive Director at Southampton Estates.
"Changes Needed for Recreation to Succeed with Person-Centered Care" was presented by Melissa Tomko, CTRS, and Carrie Chiusano, ADC. The session focused on how roles have changed in recreation at Presbyterian Senior Care related to person-centered care. It explores ways to communicate these changes... to everyone. Examples of programming were shared.
Presented by Becky Weber, NHA, MS and Emily Enright, MBA, this session focuses on the journey taken in the Skilled Nursing households at Garden Spot Village as they foster a "Person-First" philosophy through their dining program. Weber and Enright share information on the timeline of Garden Spot's project, the roles and responsibilities of the Homemaker and Household Coordinator, the training they provided, and how they managed change.
